ABOUT ME

I'm a 2D/3D artist with over two decades of professional animation experience in TV shows, commercials, short movies, educational programs, DVD menus, legal animation, and award-winning science and medical visualizations. I am originally from the UK but currently live and work in San Francisco.

I'm a strong generalist in most areas of 3D production, including modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, lighting, rendering, and compositing. I also have experience with effects work such as particles and fluid simulations.

I have occasionally been known to write scripts and tools with MEL.

I’m a long-time Maya user and have a ton of experience leveraging this program to the hilt, in particular using its referencing workflow.

I have a proven track record of managing complex and long-form projects from start to finish. Whether it be a shot specific problem or overall pipeline issues, creative problem solving is my forte.

I’m happy whether I’m working as a one-man band doing everything, or part of a large team.

In my spare time I'm an amateur musician, love nature and hiking, and go SCUBA diving whenever I get the chance.

SOFTWARE

Maya for 3D. And of course with Maya come various third party plugins such as nPower, and external MEL and Python scripts.

Vray is my preferred rendering engine, but I also have knowledge of Arnold and Redshift.

Substance Painter for 3D texture painting, and Nuke and After Effects for compositing, post work and effects.

Photoshop, of course.

Supporting roles:

I also have working knowledge or better of Premiere, Adobe Creative Suite, Deadline, Smedge, Real Flow, Keyshot, HDR Light Studio, Houdini, Golaem for Maya, ShotGrid, and Unreal Engine.
